Crews have responded to a "significant" water main break on Cape Cod, the Falmouth Police Department said as it urged people to avoid the area.
Water is pouring into the road at West Falmouth Highway (Route 28) and Blacksmith Shop Road in Falmouth.
Authorities say drivers need to take alternate routes as firefighters work to clean up the mess.
Police say West Falmouth Highway near Blacksmith’s Shop Road will be closed for almost the entire day. Traffic will be detoured at Chapoquoit Road and Old Dock Road.
Fire officials say it’s an older pipe that could have burst because of colder weather.
The Falmouth Water Department is on scene.
